Gwent County History Association was established in 1998 with the object of advancing the education of the general public through:

1. promoting the study of the history of Gwent

2. publishing a history of Gwent

The second objective was finally achieved in 2013 with the publication of The Gwent County History Volume 5.

The Association continues to promote the study of the history of Gwent through organising meetings, lectures and publications.

On 1st April 2014 it took over the activities of the Gwent Local History Council and continues to:

*publish Gwent Local History journal twice yearly.

*organise an annual day school.

*present awards for services to local history.

Membership is open to all interested persons upon payment of an annual subscription.
